Matthew L. Hood

Matthew Hood grew up in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Saint Francis Xavier and Visitation grade schools and graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1991.
In 1996, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and in 2002 he earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After graduation from law school, he clerked for Judge Hal Lowenstein of the Western District of Missouri Court of Appeals for six months and then for Judge Sandra Midkiff of the 16th Judicial Circuit for a period of two years. His clerkship with Judge Midkiff included 18 months when she was in charge of the family law docket which provided Matthew with an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand the application of this area of the law.
In 2005, Matthew became an associate with Dempsey & Kingsland, P.C., working entirely on behalf of plaintiffs in personal injury cases for three years.
In July, 2008, he launched his new firm and invited his father, UMKC Emeritus Law Professor Edwin Hood, to join the firm as “Of Counsel.”
